Chevening Alumni Malaysia (CAM) President Nithi Nesadurai addressed participants of a workshop for European alumni networks on “How to Create a Successful Regional Alumni Network’ in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday, October 19. He was invited to the workshop to share CAM’s efforts in leading the formation of the ASEAN Network of Chevening Alumni in March 2015.
Nithi’s presentation was part of the ‘Advancing Your Research Career in Europe: Strengthening European Alumni Networks in Southeast Asia’ workshop held from October 19-20. Organised by EURAXESS Links ASEAN and the SEA-EU-NET project, the workshop brought together recipients of various national- and regional-government sponsored scholarship programmes in Europe and their alumni network representatives.
EURAXESS Links ASEAN’s objective is to facilitate greater collaboration between research institutions in the European Union and ASEAN. This workshop focused on the importance of strengthening European alumni networks in particular to achieve this objective. In this regard, CAM was considered a benchmark for an active alumni network. CAM’s documents on alumni development and creating a regional alumni network were disseminated to all the participants.
