28th August 2016; CAM’s Sunday Nature Walk: Post-Event Wrap-up
On a beautiful, clear and sunny Sunday, the 28th of August 2016 at approximately 8.30 am; a number of enthusiastic CAM members their families and friends, partook in a refreshing Sunday Nature Walk at the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, found in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
With the advantage of our very own CAM member Surin Suksuwan as ‘forest guide’, we however acquired more than just a mere walk that day. Surin who is Southeast Asia’s Regional Director at Proforest gave us an excellent presentation of the foliage in Bukit Nanas every few minutes during the walk and stimulated our interest in the knowledge of Malaysia’s green heritage. Truly a nature lover, Surin enticed us with the sights and smells of the forest as he encouraged us to have a sniff of crushed leaves and even hug some trees!
After strolling through the green for about an hour and a half, the committee members who attended including Surin stayed on for Sunday brunch at an appropriately named venue in conjunction with the nature walk – the Betel Leaf! Another hour and half was spent there chit-chatting while having our fill of sumptuous Chettinaad cuisine before we decided to say our goodbyes and head back to the rest of that beautiful Sunday.
All in all, the event was a great start to the rest of the week, time well spent in leisure, laughter and camaraderie. CAM takes this opportunity to thank Surin for sharing his time and passion with us during the walk and also for the promise to continue being our guide in future nature events to be organized by CAM. We also thank the 19 attendees (including the little ones) who made the nature walk comfortably large enough.
The most beneficial thing about the event was the occasion to stroll through one of the city’s green lung in the midst of our hectic city lives getting to know and appreciate nature, and at the same time unwind and relax with friends. It was also an opportune occasion to connect with chevening members from much earlier batches and keep in touch with them for future events. Finally, we hope to connect with more members and get your support to plan and execute even more fantastic events in line with CAM’s focus on Nation Building this year. So do come and join us!
